KNIFE CRIME DEFINED

Knife crime is crime involving a knife or any kind of sharp instrument used to threaten or cause physical harm to another person. It's a crime to threaten someone with a knife or carry a knife in a public space. Some knives are offensive weapons and are banned and it is an illegal offence to carry or even own them.

CONSEQUENCES OF CARRYING A KNIFE

There are legal implications if a person is found to be carrying a KNIFE in a public place. It is not a legal defense to carry a knife for protection as this is in breach of the law. Research has shown that you’re actually more likely to become a victim of crime if you’re carrying a knife.
